What Is Fasho.W?
Cristopher Guidry
ART DIRECTOR IN NOLA
The answer is in the name. Fasho.w derives from the AAVE (African American English Vernacular) word "fasho". It along with many other powerful words became a way for us to improve communication amongst one another. This word specifically is often used to indicate understanding which is something we strive for in this company; for people to understand our message(s) in its entirety.
Bringing us into it's other meaning which is placed as the more apparent forefront of what we do; put on a show. As a production company everything done here is "for show". The desire is to put on shows or tell stories that are meaningful to people, in a way that can educate those on what it means to make the world a better place.
The “W” is intentionally separated to signify that it's not just for show. It is a representation of change and that change doesn't happen from us simply putting on a show. We use this as a reminder to ourselves and others that simply addressing the issue is just the beginning, the real work happens when we put in the work to better ourselves and subsequently the people around us. Through this method of storytelling and genuine enhancement of our community we hope to lead by example as we work to build the change we want to see.
